Happy Bornday Talib Kweli

Was fortunate enough to get an invite to Talib Kweli's birthday celebration at Playhouse.  Met at his house and we all carpooled to the venue where Too Short was also in the building.  He kept calling me "Pimp" and poppin' his collar because I was rocking the hell out of my fur coat:)which may I add that I am so excited the winds are kicking in to bring out all my fur pieces!! Pimped out in all vintage (Fur Coat and Lace minidress)

Check out Talib's latest mixtape with Z-Trip. Free Download!!

One of my favorite tracks is Outstanding ft. Ryan Leslie mixed by my dear friend CSik.

Happy Memorial Day

I know everyone's probably tipsy but lets not forget the importance of todays celebration & make a toast to all the brave men & women who serve our country(past & present) In loving memory to the biggest hero I know..My grandpa who served in the U.S CIA/Military during the Vietnam War. Salute! He was captured by the Communist Party and served a grueling 17 year prison term in Vietnam..to then be reunited with my grandma & our family in the U.S for a too short lived 7 years before he was laid to rest with the heavens. His sacrifice allowed my grandma, dad, dad's brother & 8 sisters to escape captivity & seek freedom in the States. We miss you and love you Ong! I become more impressed with my family's honor, dignity & cohesiveness...You guys help instill such great family values to help keep me grounded & embody the true meaning of unconditional love, loyalty, sacrifice, & grace.. I stand a very proud member of our family tree & definitely a gawd damn DDANNGGGG:) Happy Memorial Day!!

Remembering Dick Clark

May this pioneer of radio and television rest in paradise. If there's one thing we can take from Mister Dick Clark, it is his larger than life personality who always appeared so kind, genuine, and likable. A charismatic man who appeared the same on and offscreen. A man who didn't believe in wearing himself thin, but instead had a strong sense of hard work and multitasking. As I sit here writing about him..I am reminded of the importance of loving what you do. When in fact that is how one remains happy and therefore having longevity in a career. Such a honor the times I was able to watch him because he always evoked positive energy. He had that power of just making your day feel that much more chipper because of the magnetizing energy he exuded out into the world. This world was better with you in it and I salute you Mister Dick Clark!

RIPower Whitney Houston 1963-2012

Such devastating news to hear about the loss of the legendary Whitney Houston. Brings me back to that somber feeling when the world lost MJ. Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy party is definitely not the same this year without the incomparable Ms. Whitney Houston. Such a talented but troubled soul.

Remember that although we may sometimes feel invisible or unstoppable, we are NOT! Lets all pay tribute to an amazing vocalist and remember her on a high note & focus on the gift of her music. This is a boss lady whose music makes we wanna find that good kind of love again...that butterfly in the stomach..great kind of love!! The unconditional love!! Life is precious ya'll. Love one another! Tonight I'm putting on my dancing shoes and honoring her legacy. Heaven, watch out...you just gained an angel with the BIGGEST and GREATEST golden voice. Rest in Power Ms. Whitney!!

Remembering Steve Jobs 1955-2011

What can I say about this brilliant, creative, inspiring GENIUS that you all don't already know!?! He is definitely the man I owe for making life easier on my not so techie savvy self. But besides that, this man is truly inspirational and shares an amazing story we all can learn from. I received an email from my mother back in April that had the subject, "Interesting story" so I continued to click on the link, http://news.stanford.edu/news/2005/june15/jobs-061505.html and it was the first time I got a glimpse into Steve Jobs' personal life. My mother sends me countless inspirational emails, but this one definitely hit me in a different way because there is something so magnetizing about a success story that holds a bit of strife that is overcome through such strength and motivation. Steve Jobs was not only a visionary innovator for Apple, but a man who represents stepping out of the box, pushing the limits, and not allowing for any excuse for an individual to excel.

"Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith. I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You've got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don't settle."

A Decade Later..Remembering 9/11

Tonight, I light a candle not only for the lives lost on 9/11, but for Americans whom were all affected by the tragic events of 9/11. Although it's a decade later, like much of you, I vividly remember exactly where I was at and the shock I felt when witnessing what seemed so surreal that day. I always wonder about the many stories that go unheard when such a tragedy occurs, so I pay tribute to each and every life affected, for NO life was lost in vain. I pray for all the lives lost..I pray for the people whose lives were changed forever because they lost a loved one in the tragedy.. I pray for the heros who risked their lives to save another..I SALUTE ALL THE HEROS AND HEROINES OF AMERICA!!
